![]() As promised, here's a little something about the UK Generic version of the new R2A firmware for the X1. It was supposed to have been released along with the other firmware versions, but has been delayed for unknown reasons. As of now, there is no release date for the UK Generic firmware, but according to Sony Ericsson it should be due shortly. I wonder what caused the delay, considering the other versions have been released already. Update! The UK Generic version is now on EMMA, which means it'll hit SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) soon! -------------------- You can visit my website here, if you want. |

well it could be a possibility but i would certainly not count on it.
although its weird they have not yet released it in uk english as even i can make that version from another R2 rom... but maybe someone made a mistake. As for winmo 6.5 itself i can say its not a real big change, just a bit faster. But the new interface sounds promising -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You might want to take a look at emma as i just found this (APP_SW_X1i_GENERIC_UK_KOV_R2A) happy downloading btw This post has been edited by Reversedhex: 2009-02-01 14:00 -------------------- QUOTE (den_po) |

I have emma.... I have no handset to put it in. I would have to wait till it has been approved by Vodafone UK to put it in the vodafone handset (+all Vodafone customizations) -------------------- |

I don't really get it...what is the problem? You can't flash the generic firmware to the voda X1? Why not debrand it then?

flashing a generic rom to branded x1 is the same as debranding.
but mattwood if you login to emma you can download every firmware/rom, or am i wrong? do you have version 2.9.1.10? ![]() This post has been edited by Reversedhex: 2009-02-01 21:40 -------------------- QUOTE (den_po) |

you can download it yes, but It will not go into the branded Vodafone X1... only Vodafone software is accessable with that unit.

Really? How did they manage to prevent the X1 from getting flashed with a generic rom? It doesn't seem to be a problem with T-Mobile devices at all.

it doesn't let you do it due to when the handset is connect EMMA checks the handsets CDA and then gives the scripts which are applicable/available for that CDA. as it a customized unit and has their CDA only their software will be available.
It would need a CDA modification to install the generic flash via EMMA. -------------------- |

That's clear, it looks like we were talking past each other.
You could debrand it yourself, without using EMMA. That's what me and Reversedhex were refering to -------------------- This signature is a temporary shelter for the poor expelled slobodanski.de smilies |

I know, I've got a T-Mobile X1 with gen rom Well, if you're in the UK at least, you haven't really got 'a T-Mobile X1', you've got 'an X1' which you happen to use on T-Mobile. T-Mobile UK don't stock the X1 directly, so to get the handset on that network, you'd need to buy it through a 3rd-party supplier, which means it would have to be a generic/unbranded handset. |

I'm not in the UK
The X1 has got a branding on it's battery cover and on the packaging as well, so I guess they stock it here -------------------- This signature is a temporary shelter for the poor expelled slobodanski.de smilies |
