 A Sony Ericsson employee in Lund has been caught in the act. Apparently, the man has stolen top-secret prototypes of unannounced phones from Sony Ericsson's headquarter in Sweden. The stolen phones are estimated to be worth more than £61,000, and are considered being highly valuable for Sony Ericsson's competitors. The Swedish police made a raid at the man's house in Skåne, Sweden, where the prototypes were found. Swedish police say that they found "a number of phones". Sony Ericsson's Swedish PR presentative, Gustav Brusewitz, confirms the situation to IDG.se, but naturally he can't say more about the phones. I've really only got one thing to say about this man; what an idiot! Most people reading this know - or at least have an idea of - how incredibly strict Sony Ericsson's security policies are. I doubt the chap would have tried to sell them on the open market before he tried selling them to a competitor since he would probably have made much more money if another manufacturer had wanted to buy them. Of course the other manufacturers may have taken the moral high ground and refused to buy them. That's not so far fetched as you might think; when an employee stole the details of a new product from Coca Cola and tried to sell it to Pepsi, Coca Cola's main rival, Pepsi didn't buy it and instead helped catch the thieves.
