Hi all. I haven't been on here for a while because of some family stuff, but I'm now back with a G705! So I got a few simple questions here.

1. Can I use the W580i charger or should I use the G705 (HK) charger? They should all be the same correct?

2. How long should I charge the battery for the first time? Is it still before where I should charge it for over 12 hours?

3. I currently have 50% battery left. Should I drain the battery first and re-charge for a few times, or should I just charge it now? If so, how long should I charge these couple of charges for? (relates to #2)

4. Are there any mods for the G705 yet?

5. Should I use the DCU-65 or DCU-60 that I got with the W580?

6. What headset does the G705 come with? Is it better or worse than the W580?

Thanks.

1. you can use both chargers smile.gif
2. if possible to the max. New batteries can take a lot, so charging it to half or so doesn't really matter.
3. Drain first is the best.
4. I'm not sure what platform G705 is running, it's an A2 but I'm not sure about the db. Probably DB3210 like C905, that would mean that you can even patch it!
5. THey are identical, it doesn't matter which one you use.
6. I don't know smile.gif

4. You can use A2uploader to edit your phone FS(File system). like adding flash menu etc
6. Worst than W580. As W580 is a walkman phone, they give you better earpiece of course.

I noticed that on the fast port connector for the HK charger, all the "gold metal heads" are there, which makes contact with the fast port connector on the phone, compared to the battery charger that my W580 came with, which has only 2 "gold metal heads" which makes contacts with the fast port connector on the phone.

This is basically what the G705 charger looks like .

5. If I use the DCU-65, I can still mod the phone with that instead of the DCU-60 right? Like I won't be limited by the USB-to-phone cable?

7. Are there any custom camdrivers for the G705?

You can use whatever cable suits you best; DCU-60 or DCU-65. According to SE, the DCU-65 is slightly faster (not true), but it's shorter and in another colour. That's the only difference.

The difference in chargers in because the picture one is a passthrough cable!

I think my battery isn't good. Here's the problem:

I fully charged it using the North American charger for over 12 hours overnight. I used it today to listen to the radio, as well as listening to music and talked on the phone just a bit. When I came home, there was over 50% battery remaining and I haven't touched the phone till 5 minutes ago when I had to input a note. I check the status now and I have just 25% remaining. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Edit: While I'm draining the battery again, it seems that the HPM 64 sounds better than the HPM 70. The HPM 64 seems to have more bass. Is this possible...? o.O

I own a G705 phone, too. Indeed, it is DB3210 that is the same as C905. Can somebody tell me where I can find patches for G705. Haven't found anything yet... confused.gif

All right thanks. BTW, I found out about the fast port thing. It lets me connect my headset to the phone while I'm charging the phone. Such a neat feature, but useless for me.

Anyways update on the battery:

Fully charged it overnight using the HK charger
Used it for 2 to 3 hours of radio and music and little WIFI use
Will be testing to see whether HPM 64 or HPM 70 are better tonight.
Currently at the time of posting, I got 65% battery life remaining

Do I have a bad battery?

Also, sorry for posting this since I posted it in the HPM 64 vs HPM 70 thread, but I just want to see what your opinions are.

Overall, I think the HPM 64 with bass preset has more bass compared to my HPM 70 with the mega bass preset , but the HPM 70 has the benefit of blocking out some sound since it's an in-ear headphone. On the other hand, the HPM 64 has a lot of bass, but it's not in-ear, and for some songs, there's WAY too much bass while for others, there's not enough.

Many thanks!

Edit: The connector between the fast port and the handsfree headset is a bit loose. It still works and everything, but it's just that sometimes it's not making a good connection. Is there anyway to fix this or is it a manufacturing defect?

I could port some patches to your phone if you upload it's phone_app.cxc for me wink.gif navigate to the boot directory in your phone with A2 uploader, then right click phone_app.cxc, press read, the file will be downloaded to the A2 uploader directory/ph out smile.gif

Ooooh nice nice. However, I might not be able to do this within the next two days. As you can see from my last post, it seems that the battery is either not good, or there's some affecting my battery life. So assuming the phone_app.cxc is unique to each phone, I'm gonna have to wait a couple days.

Alas, is it possible to use the GENERIC firmware on G705? I'm currently running HK firmware, and love it. It'd be great if there's specific patches for G705 using HK firmware, but last time I did some minor mods, patching the W580 with HK firmware was a PITA. And where would one download said firmware? Top Sony doesn't seem to have it.

I got a weird problem here, and I'm wondering if anyone has a similar problem as well.

We all know that the G705 has the ability to use WI-FI. However, sometimes the phone can't detect any WI-FI networks, even if it's within 5m of the router, while other times it can detect the SSID of said router even if I'm on different floors. Then there's the fact that even if it can detect the SSID, I can't connect to the router or it'll give me a bad IP address and gateway and what not. I remember the IP address started with 169.254.____ while the Gateway was 255.255.0.0 I believe. Anyone got a similar problem and have a solution?

Also, can someone answer the question above about flashing firmware? I'm interested in flashing the phone's firmware. Or, the store I bought it from that they can do the flashing for free if I ever encounter any problems. What would you advise?

If the ip address becomes a 169.254.____ it means that the router's DHCP server failed to give a proper address. At this point, the recommendation is to restart phone and router and it should pick back up.

Well I can't reset the router cus it's the school's routers. However, this happens a lot of times when I try to connect to a wireless network ANYWHERE. Like yesterday, I was eating lunch, and my mom's friend is the boss so I tried to get on the Internet. I found his SSID, typed in the password correctly (he wrote it down), but it said it couldn't connect. The same thing goes for when I'm at school. I can't seem to connect to like all the different school departments while people with laptops can connect to them without any problems.

And what do you mean backup?

Is there a way to watch YouTube videos via Wi-Fi only? I don't have a data plan so I can only use Wi-Fi for things like this.

I'd like to add, anyone know where to get Flash Themes/Menus that work with the G705? And I don't mean themes that you can find on sites such as zedge where the menus are the original Sony Ericsson ones.

Also, any update to modding?

I just port the first patchs for G705 SW-R1BA038

In fact, when I run the java appli, the phone restarts immediately (Is this normal???)

Do you know something about you?
I think the problem is the java application (??)
