Hi all,
I am new to Sony Ericsson phones and wondering if it is possible to unlock my S500i it is locked to the Tesco network. Is there a free option? thanks for looking. As far as i can see it is a CID: 52 This post has been edited by mccartfm: 2008-10-20 23:24 |

Thanks man,
Ye i dont plan on updating it or anything like that, Just want to use a differeent sim in it. Setool lite only shows the S500-----is this the same as the S500i? And i have downloaded Xss++ Is there any other files or fw or anything i need? Just really want to look into this before i go ahead witth it Thanks for your reply |

There is a nice tutorial in forums: http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=19655 (Your phone is DB2020 CID52)
You will need to get the same firmware for your S500i as you are using now and simox patcher. And, yes, S500 is the same as S500i, select S500. For firmware, please post what you see in Menu->Settings->Update Service->Software version. This post has been edited by zolookas: 2008-10-21 10:14 |

Ok lads
i have backed up my GDFS file i have downloaded SIMLockPatchGenerator_v2.1 i have downloaded S500_R8BA024_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52.rar Now waht is next... Im very confused edit: i have also downloaded S500_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LY_RED52.mbn This post has been edited by mccartfm: 2008-10-21 19:56 |

What is confusing me in the guide posted above is
Open SETool2 Lite v1.11. 1. Select your phone model. 2. In Windows Explorer drag the MAIN file (.mbn) onto SETool2 Lite v1.11 where does this file come from ? folder\qamaker\qamaker.exe. In the qamaker's folder you will get a quick_access_XXXX_XXXXXXX.vkp file. 3. Click on ... (three dots) button near MISC files box, and select the vkp file generated in step 2. 4. Tick Bypass DB2020 security checkbox. 5. Click on Add button and select the MAIN firmware file. 6. Press FLASH button. 7. Follow the instructions given by SETool2 Lite. At one moment you will belive that nothing happens and the status windows is not changing! DO NOT remove the CABLE! Wait until "ELAPSED x SECONDS" appears in status window. This process will take some time, about 10-15 minutes or more... problem resolved: the version of SETool2 Lite v1.11 did not have a folder called qamaker. ok i have now downloaded
S500_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LY_RED52.mbn ai am assuming this is the file i sue to flash... i hate to assume though

Thank you so much guys, have my nice new S500i unlocked.....sweet! My problem above was i had use quick access patch selected and also that i added the MAIN firmware in the wrong line....doh. Was supposed to be selected in the big window saying add beside ie. thank you everyone for all your help, you did me proud
