Help Please - Need to Unlock K610i - Step by Step Proc and Links Please Options

Hello to all.

I have a K610i and a K850i (the K610i i urgently need to unlock - a free way if possible please - K850i i understand will not be as easy, but that one can wait!).
Both are locked to the lovely '3' network, who say they would unlock each at £15 each, but i'd rather do it a free way if there is one.

I have unlocked a couple of phones before, using some software available on the internet, but that was for a T610 and namely a k750i and k700i, but these 3G SE models seem to be a little harder? ie to get the free software..not so much the cables (as i believe the cables that came in the box suffice?).

A nice 'step by step' procedure would be really appreciated please, with a link to the software etc too?

Well, first you should get XS++ v3.1 and connect your K610i and post up what is in the log for us to see.

Because if the type of phone is CID53, you have to pay to unlock - there's no free way.

Downloaded 'XS++ v3.1' but there seems to be a connection issue, is this because i need a SIM for the nwork its locked to? Ive installed the drivers for the USB cable and connected to the phone, but here's what i get in the software and just shows on phone : "insert correct USIM"

Am i doing something wrong?

Turn off your phone, remove your battery, wait 5 seconds, insert your battery, do NOT turn on your phone, hold 'C' and connect your phone to your computer.

OK managed to do this by removing batt, then re-inserting (both after pressing connect in software). Then attached cable, same time as holding C down..here's the result..attached, but its only CID49! Should i upgrade to CID52?

Not getting on too quick, but managed to update my 'RED' K610 to CID52 (from CID49), so getting somewhere!

But, not sure which Firmware (FS and MAIN) to get, ie to patch with (firstly so as to unlock - before i even think of upgrading to W660 or mods etc?)

My unit says the Firmware is 'R1CD001' with EROM 'R3A011', but can i/should i be able to get exact match or a better one? (I'm in the UK, so Western Europe). Any ideas where is the best place to look as there seems to be several...for example just seems to be 'R3B0... etc found in www.iprotebe.cz

ok..here's an update (someone PLEASE?)

flashed successfully with se2tool lite : -
MAIN (W660_R8BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_FY_RED52.mbn) +
FS (W660_R8BB001_FS_EUROPE_5_RED52.fbn) +
CUSTOM (HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_14_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5.zip),
to upgrade to W660.

But, can't seem to unlock.....

tried following method;

Made unlock patch, using 'SIMLockPatchGen APPL'. ran program, clicked on "..."
selected same MAIN file as above ie - (W660_R8BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_FY_RED52.mbn)
clicked on "Make patch" and closed program.

Using setool again, ran program, at MISC FILES, Selected "Phone type" W660.
Then, at MISC FILES select the UNLOCK patch (Remove_SIM_lock_W660_R8BB001.vkp)
Pressed "WRITE SCRIPT"
then Pressed and held "c" from phone and inserterted USB cable
selected NO When program asked to select "YES to remove patch or NO to apply patch".

waited to see next message: "Elapsed ___ sec and disconnect your phone!
Your phone is now UNLOCKED!"

Inserted my T-Mob SIM to see if unlocked the phone from '3' network. Alas NO, but fired up initially ok to 'Normal/Flight' prompts.

Any ideas please STILL UNLOCKED!

But, arrrggh! only just seen your reply. since then the following has happened, after ev seemed to be going ok - ie upgraded from k610 to w660, but couldnt unlock....

Decided to try and flash the unlock patch :- 'Remove_SIM_lock_W660_R8BB001.vkp' using setool, populating the misc files area and ticking on bypass db2020 sec.

But i think i should have added back in the MAIN file in setool also? (plus didn't tick 'use qa patch'), as although it seemed to run through various processes, I NOW HAVE IT SEEMS A DEAD PHONE!.

after running through the various processes, i was prompted and selected NO When program asked to select "YES to remove patch or NO to apply patch".

BUT, than got message "some patch values differ, continue?" i selected YES, but this time, instead of getting "Elapsed ___ sec and disconnect your phone! Your phone is now UNLOCKED!", i got;
"blocks 0 written
vkp script exected ok
elapsed 1265 seconds"

i then removed cable tried to fire up phone - but nothing! arrgg

thus to check status of phone, reopened setool again, selected phone model W660 then pressed READ GFS and connected phone cable, holding down 'C'.

Message ends with: "....cs loader refused to start GDFS Services,error is:29
failed, that is fatal
elapsed 15 seconds"

did save GDFS of original K610 (IE after upgrading to CID52, before upgrading to w660).

Does it look like i need to get this back on phone, if so how?

So using XS++ Choose the main w660 file i downloaded to upgrade from k610, populate in the 'flash main firmware' box and nothing else? then press flash and connect cable to phone (with c held down)?

I think that will restore your corrupted Main. Try it and post the results. Mind that the phone will only be resurrected then, not unlocked

Cheers, i have a w660 phone that switches on, so at least back to the way it was before i screwed up the patching to unlock!

nb i remember i couldn't get a EUROPE_5 CUSTOM file in the drop down list (So as to match the language pack per FS File used), thus had to select either EUROPE_2 or EUROPE_3 - would this have been a problem?

Also, doesn't seem to be any sound as i switch on/off & of course still unlocked, here's the results of the reflash of MAIN;

Initial problem;
when dragging and dropping MAIN file onto qamaker.exe found in setool2lite, exe wouldnt run to create the patch file, with dos window saying something like "....couldn't find path...".

alt solution to create qa patch;
so tried to drag and drop MAIN mbn file over qamaker.exe found in jdflasher folders (within far) and this ran fine creating the qa patch.

processes taken in applying the qa patch;
re-opened setool2lite, ticked the box:- 'bypass2020 sec', added in 'MAIN mbn file' and in MISC area selected the newly created 'qa patch file'. pressed FLASH and reconnected phone cable holding down 'c'.
THIS TOOK APPROX 6/7 mins (while displaying 'writing' as it went through the various processes)

"remove cable from phone & reinsert battery" eventually appeared, then pressed ready and reconnected cable, which then showed;
"CID52 BYPASS PROCEDURE FINISHED" and then kicked off a further auto flashing of the 460 blocks.
THIS TOOK ANOTHER 5 Mins APPROX.
Then "SSW UPLOADING FINISHED" appeared and i selected NO to apply patch. QA Patch - job done!

cheers - though i put custom pack europe_2 on, should i just simply patch europe_5?
ie to keep it tidy, and remove custom pack europe_2? or am i just worrying over nothing?

also, re freezing up when entering ringtones, message tons etc, all i needed was the 'W660 R8BB001 Ilumination Patch.vkp' patch, reset brightness on phone to 60% and hey presto...job done.

Anyone know how to play '3gp' and some of my 'midi' files? they appear to be locked, within ringtones, if i click on select, i get the message 'cannot use this file' ??

Remove custom pack europe_2 when flashing. Isn't good to change your custpack after your phone has performed its first boot after flash.

Any other patches you applied? One of them could have caused the locking.

Re my recent K610@W660 conv. Big problem - for me...

Camera is really really poor, looks like a 'seppia' effect all the time, colour even poor in themes on icons in menu.
Have set brightness to 60% but no good.....

Thought i patched the following, but maybe i should check what files i have on the phone;
