What are the pros and cons of patching my s500i phone to w580, i am interested in doing this but am unsure of the advantages it gives and if anything will disappear.

It's flashing.
Pros- Walkman 2 and skins, Fitness Application, other random stuff. Cons- none for me Go for it. -------------------- RIP The One.

Do note that the S500i's hardware itself has NO accelerometer, thus, the fitness and walkman-shake features are not available after crossflashing.

Nope.
But when you flash in a new firmware you lose everything in the phone memory, including smses, phonebook, games, applications, etc. So make a backup. Okay when im downloading the MAIN and FS for the phone, which ones do i choose? What does R6BC002 mean?

That's the firmware version. Download Main generic and the fs for your area. If you don't know it, go to http://www.topsony.com/forum/cmps_index.ph...e=info_lenguaje and it's on the 2nd table.
