My Modded W580i/S500i, W580i hardware with S500i look Options

Hi. im from sweden and when I started looking for a new phone about a half year ago i got stuck on the black S500i. The only phone on the market then that covered my expectations in design. Of course SE waited a hell of a long time before releasing it 2-3 months if im not misstaken from their release of the yellow version.

Had my phon for 2 days before having to send it back for a waranty issue. Only to get a yellow one back 3 weeks later and beeing told the black is no longer avalible. PISSED OF i turned to my chioce of the second best lookin phone on the market. The White/Orange W580i with a training prgram/step counter and a walkman in improvement to S500i, only to get PISSED OF again after a few weeks when SE stopped the release of that color and only released i GREY/Black. According to me the ugliest f**ing color they got on that model. Well I needed a phone so i got the grey.

Now a half year later. The black S500i is no problem getting and the white W580i is also avalible and...

A typical SE problem. now im stuck with my ugly got damn GREY one. The only thing i could do. Mod it of course.

Ordered myself a black S500i and a yellow S500i shell and started of without any instruction.

Heres the three version of my choice. And belive it or not I think i acually made SE ugly grey version nice with a white middle insted of a black. The yellow version is more gold with a black middle. And the shell of my choice.

The black S500i shell with the yellow versions buttons that are in silver and the yellow versions camera coverplate also that i silver. Thats the hardware mod. I've also put in the menues and content of S500i in my w580i so the result is a S500i with walkman and training program/step counter.

Love the details even if they are a bit girly.



Last with the vibes theme. a theme that will be as made for the grey w580i shell and the white middle. the white will work perfect with the folder color and the cyan is the same as the color on the walkman logo and the camera coverplate.

Sorry but the wobblyness seems to be ther no matter wich one you use. I´ve kind of got used to it now so i dont mind. As long as they dont crack in the middle as many people seems to have a problem with. Non of mine has borken yet. I think its all in how you press the buttons.

Made it yesterday and im still likeing it more and more. the green original keypad made the hole phone alot more dark and colorfull. its more of a metalic now and the other colors (themes and lights) stand out more.

I have the black/orange W580i... I was going to take off the front faceplate and spray it glossy to match it like the S500i... now that you did that, I might even buy the whole set of the stock S500... one question though: how on earth do those two buttons next to the "Play" button on the W580 convert to the four buttons on the S500??

It's been a while since I've started this thread.

I loved the phone and the way it looked BUT. I accidently sat on it for a few hours while on a road trip. Cracked something in it so the buttons, "back", 4, 6, 0 stopped workin.

Nothin else to do than buying myself a new phone.

Bought the pink one and to everybody around me, that was one hell of a funny thing to do since boys apparently can not have pink phones.

I had one modd in mind when I got it though. I tried to paint my old yellow housing but that was not a good idea so I finally bought original housing for one third of the phones price and modded this beauty. Hopefully she'll stay with me a little bit longer.

I dont understand fully why SE does this but its been for sale in sweden for some time now. They launched yellow, waited for 3-4 months, launched black, waited 5-6 months and launched, white, now I think they've even launched purple in sweden.

what I can not understand is why they wont launch all colors in all countries. like the red w580i or the djungle green. thay for example didnt release the black and white w580i in sweden until a very long time after the urban grey was released.



I love the white. and its great with the white headset that came with my pink w580i. I can recomend this setup strongly

It´s a little BIG differens between my white and those white phones. they are the inspiration I can admit. but i didnt like the copper middle and lens cover.

So mine is with the lenscover and buttonpad from the yellow S500i, my middle is from the pink W580i wich is original white and got the walkman logo on the side.

The rest is from the white one.
