Alright, here's the deal.

My friend has a Sony Ericsson w300i and the screen does not work. Strangely enough, if you shine a light at a certain angle at the screen, you can faintly see it's contents. I have opened it up and noticed a little water damage in the corner but nothing that looked serious.

I've tried to replace the LCD but that didn't work, I'm thinking it might be the flex cable.

What do you think?

I think I know how to change the cable but if there any tutorials please direct me to them.

Thank you for your help

it's normally the flex cable it's kind of a common problem with w300's, check it for little splits or tears, if you search youtube somewhere there is a video guide on how to dissemble the phone.

So, I guess I'll just buy a flex cable and see if that does the trick. I heard that if you drop your phone a lot the impact on the hinge can damage it. So, I agree.

Thanks a lot.

I am having the same problem, the display is on but dark. Could you please update and share with others whether or not replacing the flex cable resolved the problem?
Thanks,
