Pardon the lengthy append. Just trying to share my experience that may be helpful to others. Hope that it is not confusing.
On my w300i the main generic version is different to the FS version but the phone appears to work just fine. Is this a problem? Why a version mismatch? I intended to upgrade from the version that came on the phone, R9A031 to R9A036. After successfully flashing (XS++) W300i_R9A036_MAIN_GENERIC_JE_RED49, I realized that I did not have the matching FS version; thus, I decided to flash back to the previous version using W300_R9A031_MAIN_GENERIC_JE_RED49. However, the flash will immediately die (the program simply exits on its own). I then noticed that the prefixes of the main files that I was using were different: one was W300_MAIN.. the other W300i_MAIN... (Notice the "i" in the prefix). Since I could not revert the main back to R9A031, I decided to reflash back to main R9A036 and try the phone. Lo, and behold it worked like charm! Instead of now flashing the FS to R9A036, I then figured why not upgrade to R4EA031 instead ? After flashing the main with R4EA031, I decided that prior to flahing the FS to R4EA031 I should try and see if the phone boots (after all it worked with a main of R9A036 and a FS of R9A031). The phone was dead and did not boot. I am now kinda leery about flashing both the main and FS to version R4EA031 and end up with a dead phone. This is because I read somewhere that version R9A031, although an older version, is less problematic for w300i. I should mention that I have the fs and main files for AMERICA_2 for both R9A031 and R4EA031. I notice that they both have something in common: both begin with prefix W300_... and both do not work. Is there such a thing as W300i_R4EA031_MAIN_GENERIC_JE_RED49 and W300i_R4EA031_FS_AMERICA_1_RED49 ("i" in prefix) ? If so, and anyone has the files could you please provide me with a link? Any thoughts? Hope that this is all clear. Thanks, This post has been edited by viperman_1102: 2008-03-08 13:47 |
