My boss from work is currently finding himself at this year's MWC, and last night he was enjoying himself with the latest Sony Ericsson offerings. In this video, he and official Sony Ericsson representatives - including Dee Dutta (!) - are taking a look at the new C902 Cyber-shot phone, the XPERIA X1 multimedia smart phone & the W980 Walkman phone. The video is mainly in English, so don't worry about it being a Danish video smile.gif Press the picture below to go to the 6 minute long video.

hmmmmm X1 looks like a rebadged toshiba device. Matey is living in a dream world about that device, it's not "totally unique", if I'm not mistaken nearly all windows mobile devices have full qwerty keyboards, have camera's and can play music, also it's certainly not compact. To say I'm a little disappointed by this one is a little understatement.

The W980 is more of the same, it looks nice, but too big, and doesn't do anything any other device doesn't do.

The C902 is what I call a xross device, as it shows convergance in it's true form, a camera that is a phone, or a phone that is a camera, but then so does my new K850? just in a slightly different style,

@ Dyce9984

You are right about the X1, i have said in a previous forum that the handset is like the TytnII HTC and i mean pretty much a exact copy less the front camera, the WM looks to have been skinned a little so it's a little less windows mobile that the other devices.

I have to say the C902 does look nice, the smallest 5MP handset around (thinnest) at the moment. little wide though.

@ Dyce

it looks much better than other windows devices and the menu is what seems to be most interesting, unfortunately the video did not get to see much of the menu in action.
I think you are "disappointed" with it because that isn't the sort of handset for you, that doesn't make it a bad handset though.

A copy of TyTN II? The display alone should make it clear that this is not the coincidence.

Yes the display is a very different proportion, the design is really quite different, the UI is very different.
In fact the only similarity is that both phones are WM with horizontal qwerty keyboard. If that makes it a copy then every phone released must be a copy of another one.

I wonder if the Big D had had a little too much to drink! He seemed to be stumbling quite a bit through that, it was almost as if he hadn't had time to rehearse his spiel.

Can't wait to get my hands on one (the X1, not Dee, nor a drink) to take it for a spin!

The best part of that video was the Dutch chap's funky accent! tongue.gif

I join Mik & Miz on this one; someone compared XPERIA with the TyTN II over on HoFo, and with the same result. XPERIA is a different handset; as pointed out, the only real similarities are form factor and the fact that both run WinMo.

I'm not completely thrilled about the prospect of WinMo either, having found it laggy and cumbersome in the past. However, I'm reserving judgement until I see what SE have done with it.

UIQ Sux.

S60/WinMO Pwns tongue.gif

SE seem to have made nice customisations to the interface. I'm gonna look into a Xperia or a N95.

BTW: scotsboy, you too fast tongue.gif

Why are people so against Windows Mobile? I know people hate Windows/Microsoft but it's only an OS and lets just wait to see what SE have done with it.
S60 and UIQ phones both run on Symbian as their OS and both are very different because of the UI.
