if so, then how - and how come the r9a036 is the most recent for w300?

i use the r4ea031 firmware works fine i've never had any problems with it

R4EA031 is newer than R9A036. Personally, I find R9A036 more stable than R4EA031, but changed to the latter to use sysgfx patch.

attention: r4ea031 is not good for a walkman experience !!

I updated my w300 firmware to r4ea031 a few weeks ago. I used to enjoy super quality music on my w300 before updating it. HOWEVER, after updating to this r4ea031 (which is apparently the same as W810's), I started to get an annoying hissing noise, ruining all that great quality .

The only thing i think is an improvement with this new firmware is that you may get slightly better signal. The camera driver is update to version 1.2, donno if it made it any better. The java is updated to 6.5. Other than that , its a pointless update, which only ruinesss the Walkman™ for you with that annoying hissing noiseee.

i fixed that by changing acoustics as soon as i got the phone i changed the acoustics and i don't hear any hissing
